Speech therapy
The speech therapist is a speech and communication therapist. Within the CDA, the speech therapist is involved in the assessment of written language and mathematical skills and their rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation takes place in one-to-one care with the aim of consolidating the foundations necessary for learning (work on phonological awareness, sound-letter correlation, orthographic rules, etc.). This is done in a playful and motivating setting for the child.
The coaching and training of teachers is also part of the speech therapist’s tasks.
Occupational therapy
Occupational therapists help people reappropriate their bodies and learn to better adapt to their environment by drawing on their motor, cognitive, affective and relational aspects.
In order to assess a person’s abilities and difficulties, the occupational therapist carries out an occupational assessment (tests and examinations). This assessment also includes qualitative observations and leads to the elaboration of a therapy plan.
In addition, the occupational therapists of the CDA are responsible for rehabilitation (psychomotor prerequisites for learning), group support and learning to write on the keyboard.
Guidance and counselling of families and pedagogical teams as well as further education and coaching complement their tasks.
